The Rev. John R. Bentley,
Jr. became our Director of Pastoral Care on April 15, 2004.
Father Bentley was the Rector of St. Dunstans, Houston for the past 20 years. He was the Rector of St. Peters, Brenham, before going to St. Dunstans.
In addition, he has served in various capacities on the Convocational and Diocesan levels, including a four year term as Dean of the Central Convocation, and a ten year term as Dean of the San Jacinto Convocation.
Following ordination to the Diaconate, he was assigned to St. Martins, where he served under Dr. Bagby, as an Assistant to the Rector, from 1975-1977.
He was born in Houston, but grew up in Tyler, Texas, where his father was Rector of Christ Episcopal Church.
John received his Bachelor of Arts degree from North Texas State University in 1972. He attended the Virginia Theological Seminary, located in Alexandria, Virginia, and was awarded the Master of Divinity degree in 1975.
He and his wife, Pam, have two grown sons, Rich and Don, and a daughter, Amanda, who is a student at Texas A & M.
