If your family would like to serve at the Family Table service we need help in the following areas:
Usher: Pass the baskets during the Offertory, a good job for Mom or Dad to do with their children. Also, help lead row-by-row to the altar for the Eucharist. Two families are needed every week.
Acolyte/Crucifer: Light candles, with supervision, or carry the Cross during the procession at beginning of the service.
Sacristan: Bring the elements to the altar; wafers, chalice, paten, water and wine at the appropriate time before the Eucharist. Full family participation is encouraged to stay after the service to clean and purify the vessels in the sacristy. Detailed instructions are provided and help as needed. Includes a credence table lesson.
Reading the Prayers: A job for those in 2nd grade or older reading the Prayers of the People into a microphone during the service. Copies of the prayers are made available early for those who want to practice.
Chalice Bearer: A job for two children at least ten years of age, offering the wine during the Eucharist. Instruction from Lay Minister required. New chalice bearers will be followed by existing chalice bearers for several weeks.
