The Men of St. Martin's group is open to all men of the Parish (all ages), and any male guests and visitors.
We gather on Thursdays in the fall and spring semesters, from 7:00-8:00 AM in Bagby Parish Hall. We have breakfast, a brief introduction to our study, and a time for table discussion, fellowship and mutual support. We will be working through the Bible Study on Romans, by N. T. Wright, available in the Gift Shoppe.
Once a month, we will feature a Special Speaker - this year's focus is "Life Changing Moments." Reservations are not required.

Men of St. Martin's Thursday Morning format:
  • 7:00 AM - Men gather in Bagby Parish Hall for a hot breakfast and engage in fellowship with other men. Hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, biscuits, cereal, fruit and yogurt - $5.00 suggested donation).

    Parishioners and guests are invited to make their own pilgrimage along the Via Dolorosa, or "Way of Sorrows." The Stations of the Cross will be placed throughout The Church, depicting the final hours (or Passion) of Jesus and the devotion commemorating the Passion. A guide book will be provided.

    Do you still remember when you visited St. Martin's for the very first time? Chances are you do, and you also probably remember that one of the first people to greet and assist you would have been one of our wonderful Ushers.

    If you've ever thought about joining this team of friendly and engaging folks, now is the time to volunteer! Older teens and young adults are welcome to serve as Ushers, too. Our Ushers serve on rotating teams, according to their schedule and service time preferences. No one is expected to usher every Sunday. The work of the Usher ministry is not difficult, but it is highly visible and important. The Ushers are integral to making sure visitors feel welcome and that all aspects of our worship services flow smoothly.

    Becoming an Usher is a terrific way to get to know others while providing valuable service to our Parish. Our Ushers enjoy a strong camaraderie with one another, and get together regularly for fellowship. Training is provided, and no prior experience is needed.     The Lazarus Guild of St. Martin's has for many years exercised a wonderful ministry. Composed mostly of men who are retired, the Guild is primarily responsible for providing ushers for funerals at St. Martin's. Through its service, the members minister to those who mourn in many other ways as well. Occasionally the Guild provides ushers for special events during the week.     If you've ever thought about joining this team of friendly and engaging folks, now is the time to volunteer! Older teens and young adults are welcome to serve as Ushers, too. Our Ushers serve on rotating teams, according to their schedule and service time preferences. No one is expected to usher every Sunday. The work of the Usher ministry is not difficult, but it is highly visible and important. The Ushers are integral to making sure visitors feel welcome and that all aspects of our worship services flow smoothly.

    Becoming an Usher is a terrific way to get to know others while providing valuable service to our Parish. Our Ushers enjoy a strong camaraderie with one another, and get together regularly for fellowship. Training is provided, and no prior experience is needed.     Our Parish Choir, and members of the Houston Symphony, present a concert of choral works which they will sing on their upcoming tour of Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague. This Concert is a fundraiser for the 2014 Parish Choir Tour.

R-J Heijmen will be leading us in a study of Paul’s Letter to the Galatians entitled "Jesus + Nothing = Everything."     May 25 is the Sixth Sunday of Easter.

    8 a.m. - Holy Eucharist with sermon, The Church, spoken service

    9 a.m. - Morning Prayer with sermon, The Church, family service with hymns and anthems, with full choir

    9:15 a.m. - Family Table, Holy Eucharist with sermon, Old Church. This family-friendly service features a contemporary liturgy, a live band offering current Christian worship music in an "unplugged" style, and a sermon accessible to children and adults (casual attire).

    11:15 a.m. - Holy Eucharist with sermon, The Church, traditional service with hymns and anthems, with full choir

    6 p.m. - Holy Eucharist with sermon, The Church, traditional service with hymns, cantors and organist (casual attire)

    Healing prayer, or prayer for any need, is offered after each service in The Church at the Altar rail.

    Child care for newborns - pre-K is available during Sunday morning services.

    With an emphasis on beautiful liturgy, thought-provoking messages and excellence in music, worship at St. Martin's provides an opportunity to give thanks and praise to God. The traditional language of The Book of Common Prayer (Rite I) is the form used at most services in The Church. All Christians who are baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are welcome to receive Holy Eucharist at St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
