    Mon., Jul 28 "Far, Far Away" Fairytale Camp (ages 7-13)
    This summer, unlock the real and magical worlds of fairytales through arts and crafts play, dramatic readings and games. Students will enjoy new twists on their old favorites - like the Cinderella from China and the "twice upon a time" Rapunzel - and may even be introduced to some REAL heroes of fairytale times. And don't worry, BOYS, there will be knights, dragons, and heroics for you, too! The week will culminate in a "Fairytale Ball" where students can come dressed as their favorite character.

    Mon., Jul 28 Mad Science ... How Does Your Garden Grow? (ages 3-5)
    Mad Science explores the way things grow in this "down-to-earth," half-day pre-school camp. Learn about plants by dissecting seeds, making leaf rubbings, and creating farmable fruit and veggie prints. Investigate the world of worms ... yes, WORMS! ... Put on your Bee-utiful Bug Costume and flutter by the camp as you learn about one of a flower's favorite pollinators! Come see what the buzz is all about! You can even make your own butterfly bracelets!

    Mon., Jul 28 Young Athletes' Basketball Camp with Larry Gatewood (grades 4-8)
    This co-ed camp, led by Coach Larry Gatewood, is designed for young "beginner athletes." The boys and girls will learn beginner skills in ball handling, dribbling and basic basketball knowledge. This is a great summer activity for your "new" basketball player! Please bring Gatorade and a snack, or money for snack and drink machines.

    Mon., Aug 04 "Building Brains" LEGO Camp (ages 3-5)
    "Building Brains" uses LEGO Duplo and K'NEX educational kits to build math and science skills. K'NEX pieces are rounded, spiked, corrugated, grooved, hollow, and can be engineered into any design idea.

    Campers will build simple machines that really work, using gears, levers and pulleys, while building fine motor skills and confidence. Class themes include:
    "Pirates That Don't Do Anything!"
    "Very Hungry Caterpillar"
    "It's a Bug's Life"
    Classes are progressive and build on one another. This is the next generation of Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys! Building has never been so much fun!
    This summer, we will offer two camps for children ages 3-5:

    Monday-Friday, August 4-8, 1:00-4:00 PM

    Mon., Aug 04 Camp with Barbie-Barbies, Barbies Everywhere! (age 5-8)
    Come and play with Barbie and learn how to dress for the occasion, practice good manners, make new friends, realize the importance of school work, learn how to use money, think about careers, hear great stories, learn some cooking tips and more! There will be non-stop activities and fun learning adventures while you develop and improve your self-esteem. At Camp with Barbie you will have fun while you help Barbie (and you) learn the many things she needs to know to become a great girl. Wonderful new ideas for creative learning are waiting for you!

    Grab a bite of lunch after spending the morning in Vacation Bible School and then paint the afternoon away in our summer art camp. This children's camp will focus on painting and drawing and is a great opportunity for both beginner and intermediate artists. Our great art teacher, Marilu Ellis, will encourage these artists to expand their talents into new concept areas and achieve new levels with their paint brush or pen.

    Mon., Aug 11 Mad Science ... Secret Agent Lab! (ages 6-11)
    Look out 007 - the Mad Science Spy Academy is in session! Using powers of observation and the Inspectikit, our young forensic scientists will have all they need to get started on their detective adventure. Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and step into the shoes of a spy in action!

    St. Martin's is having the first of many "intergenerational" events, also known as "St. Martin's Family Days." Join us for "Homecoming Sunday" on Sunday, August 24.

    After a summer of vacations and time away, St. Martin's wants to say "welcome back!" Join us for an old-fashioned picnic on Homecoming Sunday, August 24. It's sure to be a morning of renewal, fellowship, fun and reconnection.

    Wed., Sep 03 Karate! (ages 3-6)
    Bruce Alamdari will conduct the fall session of Karate (Tae Kwon Do) for children. These classes are extremely popular. Instruction includes self-discipline, body control and self-defense.

  • Free belt testing
  • The fee does not include uniform, which is purchased from the instructor


  • Classes are offered on Wednesdays, September 3-December 10 (13 weeks) in the Activity Center. (There is no class on October 22 or November 26.)

  • Little Tigers (ages 3-4) meets from 2:20-2:50 PM

    Thu., Sep 04 Gymnastics for Boys and Girls (age 3-grade 5)
    Gymnastics for boys and girls begins on Thursday, September 4. Your child will be participating in an exciting 45-minute class once a week. We work in the areas of floor tumbling, balance beam and mini-trampoline. Some classes include cheerleading for the students that desire it. In all of our classes we also mix in health, fitness and well-being information along with some humor. We don't necessarily build Olympic gymnasts ... we help shape healthy, happy, confident kids!

    Classes begin Thursday, September 4:
  • Ages 3 - Pre-K meet at 2:45 PM
  • Kindergartners through grade 2 meet at 3:45 PM
  • Grades 3-5 meet at 4:25 PM

    Sat., Sep 06 Texas Boys and Girls One Day Basketball Clinic (ages 6-14)
    Terrence Raford will conduct a one day "skills and drills" basketball clinic for boys and girls ages 6-14 on several Saturdays this fall. The goal of the clinic is to increase the student's knowledge and skill of the game. The clinic will emphasize the fundamentals of basketball with drills in defense, offense, passing, rebounding, and shooting. Students will receive individual and team instruction with scrimmages and instructional videos.

    Clinics will be offered in the Activity Center, from 1:00-4:00 PM, on the following dates:

    Terrence Raford played for Northwestern State University in Louisiana where he was All Conference his sophomore, junior and senior years. He played professional basketball for 10 years in the European Professional Basketball Association and was voted Most Valuable Player in the Portugese basketball league. Terrence is a certified basketball official and Director of Texas Boys and Girls Basketball Camps - a skills and drills camp. Terrence also is a refeeree with the WHCSA basketball league in which St. Martin's is a member.
    Sun., Sep 07 New worship service begins - The Family Table
    Imagine your family's life together without a family table. Difficult, right? The family of God is no different. The families with young children of St. Martin's (age 2 through grade 2) will gather weekly around our Lord's family table to worship, share Holy Communion and tell the Gospel story for the pure joy of being His children.

    Beginning September 7, 2008, we will meet Sundays, 9:30-10:15 AM in Founders' Hall, for child-friendly liturgy, live music, and dramatic storytelling of the Gospel. This service honors our traditional Episcopal liturgy while fully engaging the whole family together in worship.
