
The Rev. Mary E. Wilson
The Rev. Mary E. Wilson is Senior Associate Rector for Christian Education and Spiritual Formation.
Mary received a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. She received her Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) in May 1997. While attending VTS, Mary served as the Co-chair of the Conference on Ministry that recruits seminarians.
In 1997, Mary was ordained to the Deaconate; in April 1998, she was ordained to the Priesthood. From 1998 to October 2000, Mary served at Christ Church in Tyler, as Assistant to the Rector. Her ministry at Christ Church included providing pastoral oversight of various pastoral care groups and managing the church staff. Mary was a workshop presenter for the Diocese of Texas Episcopal Church Women’s 98th Annual Meeting.
In November 2000, Reverend Wilson was installed Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Silsbee, Texas. In 2002, she was appointed a member of the Task Force Bishop Suffragan Election and Bishop Coadjutor Election Task Force for the Diocese of Texas.
In 2004, Rev. Wilson was a presenter at 155th Diocesan Council for Mission and Vision in Small Congregations and a presenter at 2004 Wardens & Vestry Conference titled Spiritual Life of the Vestry.
Mary served on the Diocesan Finance Committee and Special Insurance Task Force. Reverend Wilson was the preacher at the Episcopal Church Women Annual Meeting in October 2005 at St. Luke’s on the Lake in Austin. Mary was a member of the Board of Directors in Hardin County for Ubi Caritas, Samaritan Counseling Center, and Crime Victim’s Center while serving at St. John’s, Silsbee.
From February 2006 to 2010, Mary was the Rector of St. Richard's Episcopal Church in Round Rock, Texas. While in Round Rock, she served on the Diocese of Texas Camp Allen Board, the Board of the Round Rock Symphony, and served as a seminarian supervisor of the Seminary of the Southwest for four years. In February 2010, Mary was a workshop leader for the Daughters of the King Annual Assembly in Lake Jackson. Mary scores ESFJ (Extraverted Sensing Feeling Judging) on the Myers-Briggs.
Mary has two adult children, Stephanie Dee Hervey, currently living in San Antonio, and Robert Thomas Hervey and his wife, Khanisha, who live in Cary, North Carolina. They are expecting their first son in October 2010. Mary enjoys hiking, exercising, knitting, reading and cooking.
