The Rev. Dr. Suse E. McBay, Ph.D.

The Rev. Dr. Suse McBay, Ph.D., leads St. Martin’s contemporary service, Riverway. She also serves as the primary liaison to all Sunday and weekday Adult Education ministries. She grew up in Oxford, England, and earned a master’s degree in Theology from the University of Oxford. Before enrolling in seminary, she served in student ministries at St. George’s Church in Leeds and served as a high school religious education teacher in Bradford, England.

The Rev. Dr. McBay earned a master’s of divinity degree at St. John’s College, Nottingham. She served as an adjunct professor at her seminary and the University of Chester. Her Ph.D. thesis, “The Divine Warrior and Cosmic Catastrophe: The Impact of Sibylline Oracles on the Interpretation of Mark 13:24-25” focused on Jewish apocalyptic in the Second Temple period. She belongs to Tyndale House and the Society of Biblical Literature.

She enjoys rock climbing and fishing. She and her husband, Stephen, a native Houstonian, have two dogs, Leia and Han Solo.
