Creative Spaces – Facing Death and Choosing Life
In partnership with the Hope and Healing Center, this four-week series on life and death will be presented in two parts.
The first part, “Facing Death,” will discuss and examine practical, pastoral and spiritual issues surrounding aging, preparing for death and leaving this life for the next. Dr. Peggy Determeyer with the Rev. Lisa Neilson will offer practical tools and spiritual insights for those who are entering this season and those who want to know more about caring for and supporting loved ones.
The second part, “Choosing Life,” will explore what life can look like in the meantime. Dr. Scott Basinger and the Rev. Sharron Cox will help us think through the attention and intention needed to find this balance for wholesome life. While no one can avoid death, how do we choose to live our lives until then? There are many demands on us, ranging from the familial, the vocational, the societal and the spiritual. To live these Biblical admonitions to choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19) and to know the abundant life that Jesus promised (John 10:10), implies an intentional quality in living our lives.
