The Rev. Andrew S. Hebert

The Rev. Andrew Hebert comes to us with over a decade of diverse and dedicated ministry experience, a deep love for the Church and a passion for building up the Body of Christ in the knowledge and love of God.

Andrew grew up in Houston and earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition from Houston Christian University before completing a Master of Arts in Theology with a focus on Worship, Theology and the Arts from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif.

Andrew Hebert recently completed his Master of Divinity at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. During his studies, he completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Ascension Seton Medical Center and undertook his field education at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, an experience he describes as deeply fulfilling and formative. There, he founded a young men’s discipleship cohort.

Andrew’s ministry background is remarkably varied. He spent six years at First Presbyterian Church in Houston, serving first as Elementary Coordinator and then as Associate Director of Elementary Programming, overseeing Sunday school for more than 100 children. He later served as Director of Contemporary Worship, leading a weekly service with more than 200 in attendance and directing a team of musicians, singers and multimedia volunteers. He was also Assistant Chaplain at Presbyterian School in Houston.

Most recently, Andrew served as a Program Generalist with Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star in Houston, where he conducted hundreds of in-depth interviews, managed a large caseload of prospective volunteers and clients and cultivated faith-based partnerships to recruit volunteers.

Andrew describes his liturgical style as one of “Ceremonial Simplicity” — clarity that invites participation — combined with “Elemental Maximalism,” an approach that engages the whole person (heart, mind and body) in the story of salvation. He understands pastoral ministry as the work of being-with rather than doing-for, and he looks forward to standing with this congregation at all of life’s threshold moments.

Andrew Hebert was ordained to the diaconate at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin on June 27. We will be honored to celebrate his ordination to the priesthood here at St. Martin’s in 2027.
