Rector
The Rev. Dane E. Boston
The Rev. Dane E. Boston is a priest passionately committed to the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Biblical preaching, inspiring teaching and the rich tradition of Anglican prayer and worship.
In his 14 years of ordained ministry, he has been blessed to share in the Holy Spirit’s transformative work of drawing new believers to faith in the crucified and risen Savior, enlivening joyful Christian fellowship and nourishing the people of God through His Word and sacraments. The Rev. Boston’s ministry at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church begins on Aug. 1, 2025, and he will preach at all Traditional services on Aug. 3.
The Rev. Boston comes to St. Martin’s from Trinity Cathedral in South Columbia, South Carolina, where he has served as Dean since Jan. 1, 2021. During his tenure, he oversaw sustained growth in Trinity’s worship attendance, congregational vitality and financial engagement. His call as Dean marked a return to Trinity (where he served from 2014 to 2016 as Canon for Christian Formation) after four years as Rector of Christ Church in Cooperstown, N.Y. His first call was as Curate of Christ Church in Greenwich, Conn.
A graduate of Washington & Lee University, Yale Divinity School and Berkeley Divinity School, the Rev. Boston and his wife, Debby, met as undergraduates. For two of his three years at the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, Dane served as the Seminarian Intern at St. Paul’s Church in Wallingford, Conn. His studies at Yale included a strong focus on homiletics. The Rev. was awarded the E. William Muehl Prize for Preaching, given annually by the faculty of Berkeley Divinity School to “the most eloquent preacher in the graduating class.”
A native of Dunedin, Fla., he was ordained a deacon at R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church in Lexington, Va. in 2011. He and Debby have four children: Ella, Fritz, Ruthie and Myles.
According to the Rev. Dane Boston, he “is profoundly humbled and honored to serve alongside the Clergy, Staff and Parishioners as God brings forth great things for the glory of His Name and the good of His Church.”
