Children’s Ministry Sunday School

Sundays
10:15 am
 - 11:00 am
Children’s Life Center.

Sunday School lays a solid foundation of Biblical and theological knowledge in age-appropriate ways. This is accomplished through a well-thought-out, six-year scope and sequencing designed to support children at various levels of development.

“Summer on the Mount” is our theme for Summer 2026.

Each Sunday morning kicks off with a warm welcome and kid-friendly opening activities. The weekly puppet show rolls out a fresh, engaging retelling of a Bible-story inspired by the Sermon on the Mount, performed by the puppet team with lively humor and clear takeaways. After the puppets, kids move into game time, where Student Ministries teams and teen volunteers lead fun, age-appropriate games and activities that reinforce the day’s lesson and encourage teamwork.

The program is designed for all kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade, with clear roles for teen helpers who guide small groups, mentor younger kids, and help supervise game stations. The atmosphere is upbeat, welcoming, and safe, merging faith-instruction with hands-on play, teamwork, and topical themes suited for summer Sundays.

Acolytes

In this ministry, the role is to assist the priest in charge of the worship service and enhance the service to the glory of God. Duties include lighting and extinguishing altar candles, presenting the crucifer, flags, banners and other elements of the service. Acolyte service is an important part of our worship tradition. Children and youth find it very rewarding to serve God and the Church in this way.

Students in grades 2 through 8 are invited to serve at our Family Table Sunday service. Contact Rebekah Maddux at relhakam@smec.org or 713-830-4146 if interested.

Students in grades 6 through 12 are invited to serve in The Church’s traditional Sunday worship services. Contact Madison Vanacore at mvanacore@smec.org or 713-985-3841 if interested.
