At St. Martin’s, our Bible studies often center on understanding the truth of God and the goodness of His will for our lives. But while worship is central to who we are, we don’t often pause to consider how beauty itself — through art, music, poetry and story — draws us closer to God.
This July and August, join us for a special six-week series led by local artists, poets, musicians and writers, including Joy Hilley, our Riverway artist-in-residence, and Dr. Matthew Boyleston, poet and professor at Houston Christian University. Together, we’ll explore how the Gospel speaks through creative expression.
We’ll consider questions like: How can we hear the Gospel in the music of Bach or in the poetry of Eliot and Auden? How do visual arts reveal the divine?
